It may only be the first of July but I'm already counting down the days to September when the traditional National Hunt season will start kicking into gear.
There's plenty of preparation to do as with just a couple of months away from the sport the memories of 2013-14 begin to fade. Going over old notes and blog posts, watching videos young and old and keeping a watchful eye on the summer action are all part of the process.
I have a lengthy list of horses that caught the eye last season - some more obvious than others - so need to figure out how they might be campaigned over the next 12 months and what kind of races we can expect them to turn up in. It could be that next year I'll compile a list for publication...something to think about.
I'll try to keep the blog active over the next few weeks as we count down to the live action, which is likely to start at one of the Sedgefield meetings in the middle of September, depending on the quality of the fields.
In the meantime have a great summer and happy punting!
